Dead Robot Lab /// Independent Systems Workshop

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 October 2026

Dead Robot Lab is an independent systems workshop run by James Morrison. This policy explains what this website collects, why, and who else sees it. It is written to be specific rather than reassuring: where we collect something, we say so plainly.

The short version

We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising trackers or analytics on this site. If you do not contact us, we collect almost nothing beyond what any web server records.

When you simply visit

This site runs on WordPress, hosted by IONOS, and sits behind Cloudflare, which serves the site and protects it from attack. Both keep standard server logs, which normally include your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser's user-agent string. These are security and operational records, not a profile of you.

This site runs no analytics and no advertising trackers. There is no Google Analytics, no Tag Manager, no advertising pixel. We do not set cookies for tracking. Cloudflare may set a cookie necessary to its security checks.

Security logging: the site runs Wordfence, which records requests it considers suspicious, including IP addresses, so that attacks can be blocked.

When you use the contact form

The form asks for your name, email address, company (optional), subject, inquiry type and message, and a consent checkbox you must tick before it will send.

What happens to it:

We keep contact messages for 24 months, then delete them. If you want yours deleted sooner, email us and we will do it.

Backups

The site is backed up with UpdraftPlus. Backups include the database, so a contact submission may persist in a backup for a short period after it is deleted from the live site.

Our LinkedIn presence

We run a Dead Robot Lab LinkedIn Company Page. We intend to publish to it using LinkedIn's official API through our own software, once LinkedIn has approved the access required. That approval is still pending, and until it is granted the page is operated by hand.

When it is in place, in plain terms:

If we later use LinkedIn's advertising tools, any targeting would be done inside LinkedIn's own system using categories LinkedIn provides. We would not upload customer lists or personal data from this site to LinkedIn.

What we never do

Your choices

Email us at [email protected] to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. Tell us what you are asking for and we will act on it.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top.
